Hendi Bustami, 29, known for claiming she was "too pretty" to be arrested, received a 15-year sentence this week for brutally attacking her mother. The Las Vegas resident had previously garnered attention for unrelated incidents, including an arrest at the airport for failing to pay a restaurant bill.
Bustami's dark turn unfolded when she confessed to the murder of her 61-year-old mother, Afaf Hussanen, in October 2022.
She pleaded "guilty but mentally ill" to second-degree murder with a dangerous weapon, admitting to striking her mother with a glass end table during a heated argument about cigarettes. The brutal act resulted in a 15-year prison sentence.
The bizarre narrative took a peculiar turn a month earlier when Bustami was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport for a restaurant bill.
During the arrest, she mentioned her perceived attractiveness and beauty accusing the police of being "perverts" trying to harm her. This odd encounter made headlines before the tragic incident.
A month later, Bustami called 911 confessing to the murder, calmly stating, "I think I killed my mommy." In a chilling recording aired during her grand jury hearing, she described breaking the table on her mother's head and cutting her neck.
Police swiftly responded to the scene, finding Bustami 150 miles away, covered in blood, near Barstow.
